Korea:The first not so Cold War

The Korean War,which started today in 1950, was important for many reasons. http://www.panmunjomtour.com/english/war/war_1.html It was the first major conflict since WW2 and , for many , started the Cold war . It involved literally millions of troops..inc 1 million US troops..imagine that number in Iraq...and 3 million Chinese....Mao was up for a long fight...and had no regard for human life. However its always interesting to see the other viewpoint of the War.. http://centurychina.com/history/faq1.shtml#1 Of course it invoked the usual atrocities of war http://www.fantompowa.net/Flame/usa_massacre_in_korea.htm Its impact ,and its lessons not yet learnt, from Vietnam onwards ,has only grown..even if MASH is off the air..!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/war/coldwar/Korea_USA_01.shtml The echoes are everywhere.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/10/26/wnkor26.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/10/26/ixworld.html http://www.kimsoft.com/kr-war.htm http://www.iwar.org.uk/military/resources/aspc/text/excur/kor_sum.htm http://mcel.pacificu.edu/as/students/stanley/thesistitle.html http://www.factmonster.com/ce6/history/A0828118.html http://www.studentstopwar.org.uk/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=345
