Lady of the Bridgewater

A wonderful trip back through Jackson Browne's awesome back catalogue was the order of the night as a hushed but fanatic crowd at the magnificent Bridgewater Hall ,Manchester , welcomed solid memories .and some new stuff, aided by the remarkable David Lynday on stunning peddle steel mandolin and others...I wept...esp when they played almost all of the "For Everyman " classic disc ..and its only 33 years old... http://www.jacksonbrowne.com/

Love you

Sadness around as another rock fav bites the stage dust Arthur Lee.lead vocalist, writer and ace guitarist has died aged only 61...I fell into Love 30 years ago....there delicate yet deep down nasty songs really moved me ..and I was so excited when the re-formed Love came to Manchester..they were brilliant..far better than even I could have expected...the University went crazy...indeed the shouts for him to return went on longer than I can remember since the crazy 70s when we thought shouting for more would actually make a band reappear, The second time Love came back was even better as we talked to his band in Kro bar before the gig and had an extremely hazy time with them after the gig in the wonderful Big Hands... So farewell Arthur//look after Jimi...!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_(band) http://the-m-files.com/love/m2indexframe.html

Castro passes power to the young...

So after ruling through 9 U.S Presidents Fidel is giving up... I loved visiting Cuba and thought a lot of people looked happy and relatively content ,indeed, Havana was buzzing and exciting...of course there were massive problems and persecution ..but I wonder what will happen now the younger generation has taken over, Raul Castro..the ex defence minister...is a virile 76 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fidel_Castro http://www.guardian.co.uk/cuba/story/0,,1834969,00.html

I am Kloot on Television

A classic moment occurred as my hero Johnney Bramwell, lead singer of the glourious I am Kloot walked past as Tom Verlaine and friend ripped through Television and solo classics, endlessly riffing and looping. Superb atmospherics and heartfelt vocals sent a silent sell-out crowd into raptures.. A hot night of rock...

The picnic season

The vagaries of the English Summer did not stop us having a fantastic time with the Halle and fireworks at Tatton Park and the Huddersfield Picnic ..a laugh, drink and a taste of the classics....
